  • December – Ning participates in the Andlinger Center’s thirteenth annual meeting on Energy for AI and AI for Energy, as a panelist on “AI in climate research”.
  • September – Poulomi Ganguli visit us for six month as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar to work on tropical cyclone- heatwave compound hazards in the Indian Ocean. Poulomi is an assistant professor at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, Kharagpur, India. Welcome!
  • September – Doyup Kwon and Amirmasoud Amini join the group for their graduate study. Welcome!
  • August – Dazhi Xi becomes an assistant professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at The University of Hong Kong. Congratulations!
  • July – Lin’s group is award a grant as part of the Building a Climate Ready NJ initiative through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Climate Resilience Regional Challenge competition for projects that increase the resilience of coastal communities to extreme weather, and other climate change impacts including sea-level rise.
  • May – HMEI-STEP student Joseph Lockwood graduate with PhD in Geosciences. Joseph will pursue postdoctoral research at Columbia University. Congratulations!
  • April – Kairui Feng becomes an associate professor in the National Key Laboratory of Autonomous Intelligent Unmanned Systems at Tongji University, China. Congratulations!

  • Oct. 2021 — Ning Lin is interviewed by Roland Pease at the BBC Science in Action program, where she discussed about previous paper “Grey Swan Tropical Cyclones“, related to recent Cyclone Shaheen and in light of the winning of Nobel Prize in Physics by Princeton colleague Dr. Suki Manabe.
