• June — Our recent work on energy system vulnerability, including papers on PNAS, Nature Communications, and Nature Reviews Electrical Engineering, is featured by Princeton Engineering School “Helping energy systems weather the storm“.
• June — Our paper ” Hurricane Ida’s blackout-heatwave compound risk in a changing climate“, published on PNAS, is featured by Princeton Engineering School “Once rare, heatwaves following hurricanes will become more common“.
• March — Our paper “Reinforcement learning–based adaptive strategies for climate change adaptation: An application for coastal flood risk management“, published on PNAS, is featured by Princeton Engineering School “AI technique boosts climate change defenses“.
• January — Ning Lin receives The Walter Orr Roberts Lectureship by American Meteorological Society (AMS) (“for pioneering physics-based weather risk analysis by integrating state-of-the-art weather and risk modeling to understand hurricane hazards under climate change”).
• January — Dr. Cong Gao joins the group as a postdoc. Cong graduate with PhD in Oceanography from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.  Welcome!

• December – Ning participates in the Andlinger Center’s thirteenth annual meeting on Energy for AI and AI for Energy, as a panelist on “AI in climate research”.
• December — We receive fund from the Andlinger Center to study power system resilience in Puerto Rico, as featured by Princeton Engineering School “Predictive models could prevent post-hurricane power failures“.
• September – Poulomi Ganguli visit us for six month as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar to work on tropical cyclone- heatwave compound hazards in the Indian Ocean. Poulomi is an assistant professor at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, Kharagpur, India. Welcome!
• September – Doyup Kwon and Amirmasoud Amini join the group for their graduate study. Welcome!
• August – Dazhi Xi becomes an assistant professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at The University of Hong Kong. Congratulations!
• July – Lin’s group is award a grant as part of the Building a Climate Ready NJ initiative through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Climate Resilience Regional Challenge competition for projects that increase the resilience of coastal communities to extreme weather, and other climate change impacts including sea-level rise.
• May – HMEI-STEP student Joseph Lockwood graduate with PhD in Geosciences. Joseph will pursue postdoctoral research at Columbia University. Congratulations!
• April – Kairui Feng becomes an associate professor in the National Key Laboratory of Autonomous Intelligent Unmanned Systems at Tongji University, China. Congratulations!

• May — Ning Lin becomes the founding Editor-in-Cheif of npj Natural Hazards.
• May — Ning Lin is being promoted to be a Full Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton.
• April — Qingchun Li accepts an offer to become an Assistant Professor in Construction Engineering at Purdue University. Congratulations!
• March — Avantika Gori accepts an offer to become an Assistant Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rice University in January 2024. Congratulations!
• February — Our study on sequential TC hazards is published on Nature Climate Change. The paper is accompanied by a Research Briefing in Nature Climate Change, and covered by Princeton Engineering, AP, NPR, and other news outlets.

• December — Kairui Feng graduates with PhD. Congratulations! Kairui will stay with us as a postdoctoral researcher.
• November — Dr. Luo Xu joins the group as a postdoc. Luo received PhD in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University. Welcome!
