  • Dec. 2013 – Our paper “Low-probability flood risk modeling for New York City,” 2013, Risk Anal, receives best paper award from Society of Risk Analysis.
  • Nov. 2013  – Dr. Talea Mayo joins the group as a Postdoctoral Associate. She joins us from UT-Austin, where she received PhD in Applied Mathematics. Welcome!
  • Nov. 2013  – Dr. Daniel Chavas joins the group as a NSF Postdoctoral Fellow. He joins us from MIT, where he received PhD in Atmospheric Science. Welcome!
  • Sep. 2013 – Bradley Howard and Jason Adleberg join the group to work on their senior thesis. Welcome!
  • Aug. 2013 – Siyuan (Henry) Xian joins the group as a PhD student. He joins us from the University of Hong Kong, China, where he received B.S. in Civil Engineering with Minor in Finance. Welcome!
  • Aug. 2013 – PhD student Adam Hatzikyriakou joins the group. He received B.S. in Civil Engineering from Columbia University. Welcome!
  • June 2013 – Margaret Owensby presents her senior thesis at the11th International Conference on Structural Safety & Reliability (ICOSSAR 2013), Columbia University, as one of the very few undergraduate presenters. Well done!
  • May 2013 – Lauren Tauscher receives Senior Thesis Award. Congratulations!
  • April 2014 – Our Sandy damage survey is reported as a feature story in Princeton Alumni Weekly by Anna Azvolinsky, who interviewed us on site (Ortley Beach, NJ).

News – 2012

  • Dec. 2012 – We teamed up with University of Notre Dame and spent our Thanksgiving week on the NJ shore to survey structural damage from Hurricane Sandy. Thanks to the participates, including Ning Lin, Emmi Yonekura, Margaret Owensby, Luca Nagy, and Jonathan Glassman from Princeton.
  • Nov. 2012 – Dr. Emmi Yonekura joins the group as a Postdoctoral Associate. She joins us from Columbia University, where she received PhD in Earth and Environmental Sciences. Welcome!
  • Sep. 2012 – Lauren Tauscher, Margaret Owensby, and Yerab Ermias join the group to work on their senior thesis. Welcome!
  • Aug. 2012 – Ping Lu joins the group as a graduate student (jointly in Prof. James Smith’s Hydrometeorology research group). She received B.S. in Environmental Engineering from Tsinghua University, China. Welcome!
  • July 2012 – Dr. Ning Lin returns to Princeton to start her tenure-track assistant professorship. She joins Princeton from MIT, where she was a NOAA Climate & Global Change Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences from 2010-2012. She received PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Princeton University in 2010.
